1,000 Paws of Great Falls – Bella & Ollie
“I adopted Bella in September 2018 when she was just 9 months old, 
and not even 40 pounds. Today, she is 4 years old, just over 60 pounds, and still bringing joy to our hearts! Bella was the first dog I had as an adult, on my own. My boyfriend at the time, who is now my husband, supported me through the entire process, and has been the absolute best dog-dad I could have hoped for.
Bella is smart, sometimes too smart for her own good. She knows many commands, can do some tricks, and has certainly mellowed out with age. She absolutely loves playing fetch, doing obstacles at the dog park, tennis balls, and cuddling with her humans.
When we adopted Ollie, it was June 2021 and he was only two months old. His double hind dew claws and boundless energy stole our hearts. My husband, who is active-duty Air Force, was looking for a pup of his own to keep him company after returning home from his deployment. When we met Ollie, it was love at first sight. My husband was on the floor playing with him, and Ollie hopped right into his lap.
Bringing a new little fur ball into the home had us a bit apprehensive to start. With Bella already 3 years old and living the life of an only pup, we weren’t sure what to expect. However, after the initial annoyance she had with us and Ollie for not consulting her first, she quickly adapted to life with another dog. Ollie absolutely adores Bella, and has looked up to her for many training moments, like learning to sit, play fetch, and cuddle. Additionally, he is still very vocal, especially when he wants to show you the toy he’s proud of, or when he wants to play. He will be 10 months old this month, and is over 40 pounds. While we are still working on leash training and car sickness, we hope he gets more comfortable with age. Otherwise, he is a completely loveable goofball, just like his dad.
Out of curiosity, we submitted a DNA test for Ollie which came back 44% Border Collie, 22% Pit Bull, 7% Rottweiler, 6% Staffordshire Terrier, 6% German Shepherd, and 16% mutt. We are hoping to have one for Bella soon, but no matter what, we would not, and could not, love them any less. They make us one big, happy family!”
