1,000 Paws of Great Falls – Cosmic
“Since my husband 
and I moved in together in February of last year, we discussed plans for our future and what would add to our lives. One of those plans involved getting a pet or two. With the craze of planning our wedding, finding another occupation, and medical treatments for me, the dream seemed to fade away and appear forgotten. After the wedding, a job offer and our honeymoon, talks of getting a pet happened again.
For a birthday present, my husband surprised me by reserving me a spot for Cat Yoga on a Saturday. I went and mainly petted the kitties, instead of doing the stretches. Three cats were brought in, two of them wanted nothing to do with humans, but the one that remained was cautious, curious, and slowly walked around the room. That cat, as I later found out, was named Stripes. Stripes was brought over to me, she was scared at first, but then sniffed my hand and rubbed her face in it. I was attached to her already, especially when she flopped on her back and showed me her belly. A voice inside of me said, “Bring her home!” and I could’ve sworn Stripes replied, “Take me home!”
That next weekend and after talking about wanting Stripes, my husband and I visited the center, and took her home. As we were finalizing paperwork and payments for her adoption, we asked the front desk lady how long Stripes had been at the shelter. It was two months and as fate would have it, Stripes was brought in on August 14th, 2021, the same day my husband and I got married. Somehow, adopting this special cat was meant to be. We named her Cosmic because of the white tufts of fur that looked like the galaxy from a distance, stars aligning up, cosmos, fate, etc. Also, one of my favorite movies growing up was “Bedknobs and Broomsticks”, and there is a cat named Cosmic Creepers in it. Her full name now is Cosmic Creepers Jessen, but we call her Cosmic for short.
Cosmic has been living with us for a little over three months now and familiarized herself with everything in the house, making this place her home; my husband and I just live in it. She claims our front room recliner as “her throne” and sits on beds for a good portion of the day. Cosmic loves to be right where we need to be for cleaning or cooking, asking for our attention. Whether lightly batting a faux ficus tree and running away from it or rubbing herself on pieces of furniture, her presence improves our lives and brings us such great joy. Her loud purrs, meows, calm demeanor, and bright green eyes make us fall in love with her over and over again. She is such a great addition to our family! We don’t know much about her previous life before she was brought into Maclean-Cameron, but we know we are giving her a great start to her new life in our home. We thank Maclean-Cameron Animal Adoption Center for all they have done to take care of Cosmic, for giving her to us, and for giving us the opportunity to be kitty parents to this sweet girl.”
