1,000 Paws of Great Falls – Max

“Max loves attention, treats and adores toys. There are only a couple toys where the squeaker still squeaks. After about a mile of walking, the leash will have slack. He learned that we do not bark at those really tall ‘dogs’ aka horses and that not everyone is allowed to play when we go walking.

Max knows several commands and he follows them well. We’re also working on not jumping on me when he’s excited I’m home. He is getting so much better and only halfway jumping up. Recently he’s started giving me kisses and is snuggling more with me.

In Conrad, the fire siren goes off every night at 9 P.M. (ancient curfew tradition) and my other dog Bandit (Mini Aussie) sings with the siren. Max is starting to join in the song too. Last night he participated more than before. We are only a block away from the siren so it’s loud. 

Max is also teaching Bandit that sitting outside in nice weather is a good thing. Both love chasing a ball in the backyard to the point that they plop down for a rest. That’s usually when it’s a good time to go walking which they both love seeing what’s going on in the neighborhood. 

There is more laughter in the house and I am so glad I have Max, he has helped fill the lab-sized hole left when Bruce crossed the rainbow bridge. Bruce was a senior rescue who had bone cancer and blessed us for a little over 2 years. My son adopted Bruce but I took care of him for half of the time.
