1,000 Paws of Great Falls – Russel

“I’ll start by saying I was not looking for a second dog. I happened to see a picture of Rascal (now Russell) on Facebook. Something drew me to him. I was surprised to find he had a paw amputated, but wanted to meet him. I was nervous wondering if he could manage the stairs in my home and if I could accommodate him properly. I didn’t bring him home that day as I considered if I would be the best home for him. That night I had a dream about him. I went back again to meet him twice to be sure he got along with my dog and son. The third visit he was excited to see me and offered me his leg with the amputation to hold.

He came home with me that day. In the 6 months I’ve had him, he has been an absolute joy. He takes the stairs with no problem and makes himself comfortable on our furniture. We give him help when he needs it, especially in and out of our vehicle. He loves to go on adventures and spent the summer camping. He surprises me everyday with what he can do. I believe we were meant to have him.

Adopting him has been such a fun experience for my family and has taught my son a lot about compassion. Thank you for giving us another best friends.”
