1,000 Paws of Great Falls – Titan
“We moved 
to Great Falls, Montana in hopes of being closer to family. Little did we know we would be expanding our family.
In July 2020, we walked in the Maclean-Cameron Animal Adoption Center with three under three in tow. We thought it would be fun just to see some of the animals at the location since it was up the street from where we lived. We circled around the place seeing if there would be a dog fit for our family. We had passed Titan twice, not really thinking an already five-year old dog would be a good fit for us, but a handler recommended we meet him.
We sat in the room waiting to meet Titan —anxious because we didn’t know how Titan would handle three kids under three. Suffice to say, one of the twins stuck his hand right in Titan’s mouth and the guy didn’t even bat an eyelash. He was this hairy but calm and gentle giant, but again, we didn’t know if we wanted to commit to a five-year old dog.
We left Maclean without Titan only to get to our driveway and realize that we wouldn’t find a gentler dog that would deal with this chaos. We turned back around, and soon there after, the top middle picture was taken and we were on our way home with the newest member of the Wood Family.
It has been 2.5 years, and we have since left Montana. We crossed the country in three cars — my husband with our now four-year old daughter and two cats, and me with two two-year old boys and our poor gentle giant, Titan, crammed in the back of a small 4Runner.
Two thousand miles later and we are back home as a family. We’ve been back in Alaska for a year now, and Titan is running amok with the three kids, and his new adopted brother, Brutus, on an acre of Alaskan snow and sunshine. He is no longer lethargic and itchy from the hot Montana days, and he is no longer that bony, 60 pound dog we adopted — Titan is home, happy, and the heavy boy who likes to bark at the bears and moose that cross our yard every day. It’s like he has always been part of our family. We are forever grateful for you guys matching us to Titan.”
