Dakodah Jayne – 2023 Youth Philanthropy Award Recipient

Within her first month of volunteering at the Maclean-Cameron Animal Adoption Center, Dakodah put in nearly 19 hours, and since then her commitment has only grown. Dakodah has quickly become a consistent volunteer who our staff can always count on to help out, no matter what. Dakodah shows great enthusiasm in her work, and she demonstrates leadership in her role, even being a buddy to a volunteer who needed a little extra help and direction. Dakodah’s dependability and dedication is so apparent that other volunteers notice and praise her hard work. Whether it is a staff member, another volunteer, a client or an animal, Dakodah is always extremely kind.

Dakodah’s hard work doesn’t stop there! In addition to volunteering at the MCAAC, she also works at Scheels and is involved with her school’s Key Club.

Dakodah has six pets of her own! She has three dogs: Pearl, Gemma and Onix; as well as a Chinchilla named Pudding, a snake named Eden and a guinea pig named Pumpkin Pie.

She may be young, but Dakodah’s kindness, thoughtfulness, and commitment to her community shows how extremely mature and intelligent she is. We are so grateful for all of her help, and can’t wait to see where she goes from here!

Thank you, Dakodah, for showing such maturity and kindness to animals in need!
