Pet Relinquishment

Before You Relinquish:

At the Maclean-Cameron Animal Adoption Center we understand that life happens, and sometimes it may be necessary to give up a pet. However, shelters should be a last resort. If you are considering relinquishing your pet, please first review our online behavior library. There may be a solution to an on-going problem. Also consider getting your pet a vet checkup. Many behavioral problems are linked to treatable medical issues!

If you’ve reviewed these options and still believe relinquishment is the best option, we’re happy to help guide you through the difficult and emotional process.

Relinquishing Your Pet:

The Center provides forms for your use as you organize your pet’s relinquishment. We encourage you to be as detailed as possible as all information will be used during assessment then passed along to your pet’s adoptive family (this form may be completed at the link below, or inside our facility). Copies of medical records and vaccination history are critical in providing the best care for your pet. We encourage you to contact your veterinarian prior to relinquishment to request a complete medical history report that you can share with us. In the state of Montana, animals are considered private property, so please bring a form of identification with you. If you have questions regarding the Montana laws, please click here. Our intake hours are subject to change due to day-to-day operational needs, so we ask that you please call our facility before arriving with your animal.

When completing digital forms below for more than one animal, please be detailed and specify which animal you’re commenting about so we are aware of each of their needs!
